Alaya F, the talented young Bollywood actor known for her debut in Jawaani Jaaneman, has a very special companion in her life: her adorable Maltese dog named MJ, short for Magic Junior. But MJ is more than just a pet. He’s a living tribute to Alaya’s late dog, Magic, and the heart of her home.
Alaya grew up surrounded by animals and always had a soft spot for them. However, when she moved into her own home four years ago, she made the conscious decision not to get a pet. She felt that looking after a dog would be too great a responsibility, considering she was managing everything on her own. But life had other plans.
One day, a friend who was heading out of town asked Alaya to look after his dog temporarily. Although she agreed reluctantly at first, the experience ultimately proved to be life-changing.
She quickly bonded with the dog, and when it was time for him to leave, she told her friend, “Either I steal yours or get my own.” Soon after, someone sent her a photo of a cute little puppy and asked if she wanted to adopt him. The moment she saw MJ’s picture, she knew—this was the one. “Don’t send me any more photos,” she said. “I have found the love of my life.”
MJ, a three-year-old Maltese, has been the center of her world ever since. This small dog breed is known for its silky white coat, gentle personality, and loyal nature. Originally bred as companion dogs, Maltese are affectionate, intelligent, and surprisingly confident for their size. They make great pets, especially for people living in apartments or smaller homes.
Alaya describes MJ as a little “badmash” (mischievous) but full of joy and warmth. “He made the home come alive,” she says. Even with her busy schedule and frequent travels for film shoots, she manages to give MJ a loving environment. He’s grown accustomed to having a “working mum” and is content with her comings and goings. At home, MJ is never lonely—he has two dedicated caretakers and is always happy when the house is buzzing with activity, especially when Alaya’s team is around.
Despite the challenges of balancing fame and pet parenting, Alaya says MJ remains her emotional anchor. “I miss him so much when I’m away, and I know he misses me too,” she shares.
Recently, Alaya even posted a heartwarming video on Instagram, showing a quiet, cuddly moment with MJ, which reminded her fans once again of the strong bond they share. It’s clear that MJ isn’t just a dog – he’s family.
