Eva Mendes has introduced fans to someone very special in her life, and it’s not what you think. The Hollywood star is head over heels for her rescue dog, Magic. With her 6.8 million Instagram followers, Mendes shared a sweet new post captioned: “A girl’s best friend. 🤎 Hoops, old jeans & Magic 4E 🤎” alongside four heartwarming photos with her furry companion.
The pictures show Mendes looking effortlessly chic in her signature hoops and casual jeans, cuddling up with Magic, who has quickly stolen the spotlight. Fans were quick to flood the comments with love for the actress and her adorable dog.
So, who is Magic?
Eva adopted Magic from California Doodle Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving doodles a second chance at life. While Magic’s exact age isn’t clear, the pup is a Goldendoodle, a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Known for being affectionate, energetic, and intelligent, the Goldendoodle is among the most popular breeds for families. They typically live between 10–15 years.

Eva officially introduced Magic to the world back in November 2024, telling fans she was “crazy about her” and couldn’t wait to share her journey with Magic. For many, the pup’s arrival brought back memories of Ryan Gosling’s beloved dog George, who sadly passed away in 2016 at the age of 17. Fans noticed a resemblance between George and Magic, making Mendes’s bond with her new pet even more touching.
For Eva, dogs aren’t just pets, they’re family. The mom of two daughters, Amada Lee and Esmeralda Amada, once shared that being a dog parent actually helped prepare her for motherhood. “You know what? It’s not that different,” she said in an earlier interview. “The love that you have for your dog, and how you are with your dog, I think, is really similar to how you are with your children.”
With her latest Instagram post, Mendes reminded fans that sometimes the greatest companions come with wagging tails. Magic may be new to the family living with her for the last 6 months, but judging by Eva’s glowing words and sweet photos, it’s safe to say this Goldendoodle has already found her forever home and her best friend.
