The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has launched an online platform to help retired sniffer and assault dogs find loving homes. This initiative allows citizens to adopt these canine heroes who have dedicatedly served the nation, offering them a chance to enjoy a peaceful retirement.

One such hero is Goli, an 11-year-old Labrador who served in the security detail at the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s bungalow. Now retired, Goli is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy the companionship she missed during her years of service.

The CRPF’s initiative is the first of its kind in India, where a security agency offers its trained dogs for public adoption. Over 30 dogs from breeds such as Belgian Shepherd Malinois, German Shepherd, Labrador, and Mudhol Hound are up for adoption. These dogs have played crucial roles in various operations, including counter-insurgency and anti-terrorism missions.

The adoption process involves visiting the CRPF website, where potential adopters can view profiles and histories of the available dogs. Interested individuals must fill out an application form detailing their motivation and plans for the dog’s future role, such as a companion, guard, or therapy dog.

The CRPF ensures that behavior experts groom all dogs to adapt to home environments, even those trained for assault tasks. Profiles like that of Zina, a Belgian Shepherd Malinois, highlight their suitability as protective yet gentle companions.

Strict conditions are in place to ensure the well-being of the adopted dogs. Adopters must provide appropriate accommodation, quality food, and veterinary care. Abuse, sale, breeding, or using the dogs for profit is strictly prohibited. Periodic inspections and communication with CRPF officers will ensure compliance with these terms. The CRPF reserves the right to reclaim the dogs if any conditions are violated.

This initiative marks a significant step in providing these loyal canines with the retirement they deserve, surrounded by love and care in their new homes.
